David Marty grew up in Palo Alto, California and for over 35 years has lived in the Pacific Northwest. David strives to capture the beauty and diversity of quiet country lanes to mountain vistas . He works primarily in oils in a representational/impressionistic style. Collectors are drawn to the sensitive portrayal of his subjects.
“I am a landscape painter. My passion is to capture the emotion I feel towards a scene or moment in time and share those feelings with others. I love to be outside painting plein air, where I find unlimited inspiration. Nothing can compare to the joy of being surrounded by nature and experience its beauty first hand. My senses come alive in the everchanging light and weather conditions. This has taken me to a wide variety of locations throughout the Northwest and beyond.”
“I am drawn primarily to places that give me a sense of peace and tranquillity – calm streams, mountain meadows, secluded beaches. My desire is to take the viewer away to a quieter place to experience these feelings. This is especially important during these uncertain times. Art is powerful and can speak volumes. I hope mine sends messages of comfort and hope. My paintings blend realism and impressionism to create a balance between soft and hard edges, and warm and cool hues.”
“I don’t want to create an exact recording but am more interested in being expressive. I have been blessed with the opportunity of doing what I love most. I hear that my work is peaceful and calming, which make me feel like I‘m accomplishing what I set out to do, which is to convey the feeling or mood I experience when I’m painting.”
“David Marty’s paintings represent what collectors desire most: a combination of perfect artistry, representational serenity, and the ability to capture the fragile and fleeting beauty of nature.”
